Coming to stay at the Penn Transplant House

The Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House is pleased to host people donating or receiving a transplanted organ and their loved ones. We’re here to help if you have questions about reserving your stay.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to stay at the Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House, you must:

  • Permanently reside at least 40 miles away from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
  • Need accommodations while attending transplant-related appointments

Other important Penn Transplant House guidelines:

  • Caregivers staying in the house with you must be at least 18 years old.
  • Children under 18 may visit the Penn Transplant House during daytime hours but may not stay as overnight guests.
  • Each patient group, which includes the patient and their caregivers, may occupy a maximum of one sleeping room in the house. Each sleeping room accommodates up to four people.

Reservations at the Penn Transplant House

Rooms at the Penn Transplant House are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, transplant recipients with an urgent need may receive priority at the discretion of the Penn Transplant House team.

There is a low, flat-rate cost per night, and we accept payment via cash, check, and all major credit cards. There are financial aid options to provide help during financial hardship. Our team can tell you more.
