Center for the Female Athlete
Centered on the unique needs of active women
The Penn Center for the Female Athlete treats active women of all ages and athletic abilities, including professionals, everyday athletes, active mothers, and weekend warriors. As the only program of its kind in the region, we are dedicated to providing the latest advancements in female-specific sports medicine, so active women can continue to excel and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
We understand the higher risk females face for injuries like stress fractures and ACL tears. Our women's sports medicine program uses a special approach that considers each patient's physical, nutritional, hormonal, and psychological needs. By customizing care plans, we ensure optimal recovery. We not only treat your injury but also find out why it happened to help you avoid future injuries. We welcome proactive performance visits as well, advising female athlete who are not playing at their peak on injury prevention and performance enhancement.
Our female-focused athletic program through Penn Sports Medicine brings together experts, including physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, orthopaedic surgeons, and physical therapists, who specialize in female athlete health. Depending on your condition, you may be referred to the Penn Bone Center for access to bone health assessments and treatment if needed.
