The Penn Program for Mindfulness is a mindfulness-based stress management program that teaches individuals how to use meditation as the primary tool for long-term stress management.

Two-Hour Introductory Workshops

Our two-hour introductory workshops will provide you with an overview of mindfulness and how it could potentially improve your health, happiness and quality of life as you reduce stress. For nearly two decades the Penn Program has taught mindfulness-based techniques to thousands of people as a way to:

  • Increase focus and mental clarity
  • Manage difficult situations and emotions
  • Enhance communication
  • Increase enjoyment and appreciation of life

Mindfulness techniques cultivate steadiness, health and wholeness even during the most difficult moments. With training, you can learn to connect with your inner resources in a simple and satisfying way. In this introductory program you will learn basic mindfulness techniques and explore how these techniques can be used to help you to live a happier and more fulfilling life. When practiced regularly, these techniques can help you to discover a new way of living.

Introductory workshops are offered throughout the year, in Philadelphia and suburban locations.

Eight Week Mindfulness-based Stress Management Program

This eight-week public program provides a thorough introduction to mindfulness meditation that will help you to:

  • Reduce stress
  • Increase focus and mental clarity
  • Improve communication in relationships
  • Heal from trauma or depression
  • Manage difficult situations

New sessions begin each September, January and April. Each course includes 27 hours of class time consisting of eight 2-hour weekly classes and a full-day mindfulness-based stress management retreat held on the weekend between weeks six and seven of the course.

All class materials are provided, including a textbook, access to homework handouts and audio recordings of guided meditation exercises for use at home.

Morning and evening options are available. The classes are held in a variety of locations in and around Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties as well as in South Jersey.
