The list below provides information about providers and practices at Penn that offer LGBTQ affirming specific clinical services. We recognize this is not an exhaustive list and encourage patients, healthcare providers, and staff to contact the LGBTQ Health Program for assistance in identifying care in other specialties or review our "Treatment Teams" to identify a provider.

Primary Care and Endocrinology

Affirming Primary Care: Providers in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine have self-identified as culturally competent in caring for LGBTQ patients. This includes experience in transgender health care and in prescribing PrEP and HRT.

Hormone Replacement Therapy: Patients can work with their primary care providers or Penn Endocrinology to develop a plan for prescribing and using hormone replacement therapy.

Surgical Services

Penn Plastic Surgery provides a number of gender-affirming procedures, including:

  • Facial feminization and facial masculinization surgeries
  • Body contouring
  • "Top" surgery (masculinizing chest reconstruction and feminizing augmentation)

Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery provides gender-affirming surgeries such as:

  • Voice Gender Reassignment Surgery

Urogynecology services include:

  • Hysterectomy (surgical removal of the cervix, uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes)

Urology services include:

  • Orchiectomy (surgical removal of the testes)

Physical Therapy

Good Shepherd Penn Partners, Penn Therapy and Fitness's Pelvic Health Program offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients who are experiencing symptoms such as pain in their pelvis, genitalia, hips, abdomen, thighs or lower back, as well as, addressing conditions such as constipation, incontinence, and overactive bladder. Dermatology

Penn Dermatology's PRIDE Clinic (Providing Integrated Dermatology for Everyone) is held monthly in Penn Dermatology University City, 3737 Market St., 11th floor, Philadelphia, and at Penn Dermatology Pennsylvania Hospital, 235 S. 8th St., Philadelphia.

The clinic provides world-class dermatological care in an environment where patients feel safe and heard. It specializes in treating patients with skin concerns related to immunosuppression, due to genetics, medical intervention, or infection, and have specialized training in treating patients living with HIV/AIDS. The PRIDE Clinic also treats gender and sexual minority populations (GSM), with a focus on transgender patients.

Mental Health and Substance Use

The Center for Opioid Recovery and Engagement (CORE) provides comprehensive peer support for individuals struggling with opioid use and their loved ones. Our mission is to provide excellent patient care that supports multiple pathways to recovery by removing barriers and facilitating access to recovery resources. We offer hands-on medical and behavioral help to ensure these individuals receive continued treatment and are supported within their communities. CORE is a Pennsylvania Department of Human Services designated Center of Excellence. Our services are free for all patients, regardless of insurance.

The LGBTQ GAP (General Ambulatory Psychiatry) Clinic invites people interested in connecting with practitioners who have expertise in LGBTQ mental health. Services offered by the clinic include evaluation and treatment of a diverse range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD; medication management in clients receiving treatment for HIV/AIDS or PrEP; as well as the assessment of and advocacy for non-binary people and individuals of trans experience who may be struggling with gender dysphoria or incongruence. Family Building

Many LGBTQ individuals and couples across the United States are raising or want to have children. Services are available to help you start a family and deal with various relationship and family issues.

Penn Fertility Care is proud to support gay, lesbian and transgender individuals in creating families. We know there are multiple paths for starting or building a family for LGBT people, and we are here to help you achieve your goals.
