Clinical team wearing masks

In these uncertain and unprecedented times, the Penn Medicine community is banding together to combat the threat of COVID-19.

If you would like to support our work—in an amount of any size—toward this effort, there are a number of giving opportunities to consider.

Donate Face Masks and Personal Protective Equipment

We are asking for the community’s help in donating supplies now to ensure that our health care workers at the hospital have the personal protective gear needed to protect themselves and others, as they care for patients with COVID-19.

Currently, we are accepting only the following bulk donations (1 case or more):

  • Masks, face protection, paper ear loop or tie in original carton (we are not accepting donations of homemade or cloth masks)
  • Gloves, non-latex, all sizes in original carton
  • Wipes, bleach, alcohol or hydrogen peroxide
  • Bottles of bleach (not splash-less)
  • Hand sanitizers
  • Head covers, disposable bouffant type with elastic band
  • Shoe covers, disposable
  • Eye protection including face shields
  • Safety goggles
  • Gowns, disposable water resistant cover gowns in original carton
  • PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators) and PAPR hoods

If you would like to donate, several of our hospital locations are taking donations either via mail or drop-off.

Support the Penn Center for Coronavirus Research

The Penn Center for Research on Coronavirus and Other Emerging Pathogens focuses on expanding and accelerating COVID-19 research, bolstering our capacity for scientific discovery platforms and allowing our experts to move forward quickly with high priority projects — including an at-home diagnostic test for exposed and previously-infected patients, as well as the rapid screening of current drugs that may prove useful in fighting COVID-19.

Your gift to the Center means Penn Medicine can accelerate research that will have an immediate impact on the pandemic as well as add the vital facilities, equipment, and training that brings enduring change to the field.

Support the New Hospital Building at the University of Pennsylvania

Crews have worked around the clock to expedite the construction of the Pavilion, the new hospital building across from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, providing increased capacity during the expected surge of patients. Nearly 120 rooms are ready to help keep all of our patients safe — a full 15 months ahead of schedule.

Your gift today helps ensure the Pavilion project continues being part of the COVID-19 care solution. Even after addressing our region’s current needs, your gift will help build the resources needed to convert every patient room across Penn’s campus to a private room and refurbish facilities to meet 21st century standards of care.

Support Patients and Health Care Teams Across Penn Medicine

Penn Medicine has launched a COVID-19 Clinical Response Team Fund to support members of our staff who are experiencing financial distress and require assistance with needs such as child care, housing and food.

Our understanding of the virus, its impact on our communities and health care systems, and the needs of our patients are changing every day. From our hospitals and outpatient centers to drive-through testing sites, our health care teams are on the front lines of this pandemic. Unrestricted gifts are our most powerful tool in confronting any challenge facing medicine and the health of our patients.

We can use any gift that you make online immediately. When you donate, you're invited to share words of encouragement and appreciation with staff.
