Bone Sarcoma Diagnosis

At Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, we are highly experienced and use the most advanced and least invasive techniques to diagnose and treat bone cancer. We also have the most experienced sarcoma experts in the Philadelphia region. Our physicians are supported by a complete cancer program that features the latest technology in diagnosis and most current sarcoma research.

Our oncologists require an imaging study of all bone lesions and masses. We offer same-day biopsies during an evaluation for the fastest possible diagnosis. We move very quickly once a diagnosis has been made, providing comprehensive, individualized treatment plans to ensure the best possible outcome.

Screening for Bone Cancer

Currently, there are no standard bone cancer screening recommendations like mammograms for breast cancer or colonoscopies for colon cancer.

However, patients at increased risk or those with an inherited condition that puts them at a greater risk for developing bone cancer may benefit from specific testing. Our Cancer Risk Evaluation Program offers genetic testing to help you learn more about your risk of developing sarcoma.

Navigating a bone sarcoma diagnosis and treatment options can be difficult. If you receive a cancer diagnosis, our cancer nurses are available and ready to help connect you with the right physician.
