Volunteer opportunities at Princeton Health
Pdult volunteers (ages 18 and up, and not currently in college) are a dedicated part of our team at Penn Medicine Princeton Health. Volunteering is a great way to stay active, socialize, share your skills, and have fun. No experience is necessary, just a commitment of at least three hours per week.
Adult volunteers are typically placed in one of the following positions:
- Public/patient visitor services: Greet and assist patients and guests, provide directions, help with check-in and registration.
- Patient care: Assist on nursing floors and in other care areas by answering call bells, socializing with patients, running errands, and stocking supplies.
- Non-patient services/clerical: Help with clerical and administrative tasks in offices and departments that support operations. Duties may include answering phones, data entry, and filing.
- Other needs: Pet therapy with licensed therapy animals, massage therapy, and other specialized skills.
To become an adult volunteer:
- Complete the online application.
- Interview and take a placement assessment.
- Complete the required items through the volunteer portal: Health Clearance Form (MMR, Varicella, HepB (optional), TB Test, Annual Flu vaccine) and Annual Volunteer Safety Mandatory Training
- Pass a criminal background check (paid for by Princeton Health)
- Complete hands-on assignment training
- Welcome aboard!
The College Volunteer Program at Penn Medicine Princeton Health offers students the opportunity to develop transferable skills, gain meaningful experience, and contribute to the local community. This program is open to all students, regardless of career interest, and prior health care experience is not required.
Sessions run parallel to traditional school semesters. College volunteers must serve once a week for a three-hour shift, are expected to complete at least 12 weeks of service for both Fall and Spring semesters, and must maintain excellent attendance. Summer sessions, in general, will run 12 to 13 weeks between May and August based on your school’s semesters.
Missing more than three weeks of service per semester may result in dismissal from the program.
Many college volunteers are assigned to a patient care area where they interact with patients, answer call bells, stock supplies, and more. Non-patient care areas also use college volunteers. We encourage students with various interests in healthcare to apply. Note: Shadowing or observation opportunities are not available. If you have specific curriculum-based requirements, please contact the office before applying.

Through our VolunTEEN program, student volunteers have opportunities to gain knowledge of the healthcare field by practicing valuable leadership and transferable skills while giving back to the community. We invite teens ages 15 to 17 years old who have completed at least their freshman year of high school to apply.
VolunTEEN sessions run parallel to traditional school semesters. VolunTEENs serve once a week for a three-hour shift, are expected to serve for the entire session (18 to 20 weeks per semester), and are required to maintain excellent attendance. Missing more than three weeks of service per semester may result in dismissal from the program. Summer session, in general, will run 9 to 10 weeks between the end of June through August and only two missed sessions are permitted.
Assignments for teen volunteers consist primarily of clerical, administrative, supportive, and logistical tasks.
Note: Shadowing/observation opportunities are not available.
We accept new VolunTEEN applications twice a year for the spring and summer sessions.
