Benjamin Franklin Giving Society
Members of our leadership unrestricted annual giving group make gifts and pledge payments totaling $2,500 or more to annual giving funds across Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania in a given fiscal year. Through their generosity and vision, members of the Benjamin Franklin Society exemplify the university founder’s belief in impactful philanthropy and serve as an inspiration to fellow donors.
Benjamin Franklin Society members receive invitations to Benjamin Franklin Society recognition events, special receptions with leading scientists and clinicians, and other exclusive opportunities.
Benjamin Franklin Society donors have a powerful impact on Penn Medicine because their gifts create opportunities to be flexible, focus on a previously understudied area of research, test better practices that lead to best practices in the future. At the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Penn Medicine Rittenhouse, and other Penn centers across the region, Ben Franklin Society donors serve the community by supporting innovative research that leads to extraordinary care and life-changing cures.
Benjamin Franklin Society levels of support include:
- Ambassador: $25,000 and above
- Founder: $10,000—$24,999
- Fellow: $5,000—$9,999

Penn Medicine Loyalty Society
The Penn Medicine Loyalty Society was established to thank and honor donors to Penn Medicine who, for three or more consecutive years, have responded to our requests for unrestricted support and believe in the importance of giving each and every year. Their unfailing loyalty enables Penn Medicine to remain at the forefront of medical research, medical education, and the compassionate care of patients.
America’s first hospital founded by Ben Franklin in 1751 and first medical school, founded in 1765 at what is now the University of Pennsylvania, both started with a mission to improve the standards of medical care and training in America.
Over the past two and a half centuries, loyal unrestricted support helped physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff at Penn Medicine:
- Provide consistent, expert, and compassionate care
- Pioneer advanced medical discoveries through innovative research
- Discover unique opportunities and meet unexpected challenges
It is with this legacy and vision of donors in mind that we honor the compassionate members of Penn Medicine Loyalty Society. These donors understand the need to stay ahead of medical challenges from COVID-19 to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and more.
Loyal generosity is responsible for so many accomplishments at Penn Medicine that have impacted patient care and medical education around the world. Loyal donors continue to provide the foundation for tomorrow’s achievements.
