The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions shown below from our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.
Comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Penn Medicine.
Dr. Courtwright is a clinician in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His research is divided between issues in resource allocation in lung transplantation and clinical ethics. Dr. Courtwright is currently focused on three projects: 1) refining our understanding of anti-HLA antibodies pre- and post-transplant to improve access to lung transplantation for women and racial and ethnic minorities. 2) Understanding the impact of quality metrics, including 1 year survival benchmarks, on lung transplant candidate selection and recipient management. 3) Capturing institutional variations in ethics consultation, including procedural mechanisms for resolution of conflict over life-sustaining treatment. In addition, he continues collaborative work on short telomere syndrome and lung transplantation with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, ethics consultation research with the Massachusetts General Hospital Ethics Committee, and bacteriophage therapy and infection following lung transplantation with the University of California San Diego.
