Our Mission

The Penn Ophthalmology Department offers individualized care across 17 ophthalmic sub-specialties and has one of the largest teams of eye care specialists in the United States. Ophthalmology faculty and staff are committed to translating the latest research into the most up-to-date treatment approaches, collaborating across the university and hospital system, mentoring and teaching the next generation of clinician scientists, and partnering with the community to address unmet eye care needs in Philadelphia. 

Penn Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology, Scheie Eye Institute, is dedicated to excellence in clinical care, research, and teaching. We offer complete diagnostic and treatment services in comprehensive ophthalmology, as well as all subspecialty areas. Services range from routine eye examinations to the most advanced ocular surgery.
