CAREs meal preparation

From caring for patients at the hospital to volunteering with organizations in surrounding communities, service has been an essential theme for Pennsylvania Hospital employees since our beginning in 1751. Through the Penn Medicine CAREs Grant program, employees have been able to support, or create, projects to improve the health and well-being of others.

Over the years, PAH employees have applied for countless grants to support their communities. This spring, among several projects by PAH staff, Candice D. Mapp MSN, MHA, BSN, RN, clinical appeals coordinator, supported the Meals & Masks Project with professional nursing organization Theta Chapter, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. – providing more than 100 meals per quarter to local families, the elderly, and the homeless, in addition to distributing masks and hand sanitizers to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

To support your work in the community, apply for a CAREs grant by December 1, 2021. More details about CAREs and the application process are available online: PennMedicine.org/community
