Each year, the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania honor exceptional nurses practicing in the Commonwealth.

Beth Russell, RN, IBCLC, Nurse-Family Partnership, was one of 11 nurses in Pennsylvania to receive a Nightingale Award. Russell was honored with the Community Nursing Award for her extraordinary contributions to the nursing profession, LG Health and the Lancaster community.

Through her service as a nurse home visitor, Russell provides assistance to more than 20 low-income, first-time mothers and their infants, who receive health-care services, health education, emotional support and parenting guidance.

She has led several programs and initiatives that support breastfeeding mothers, including a breastfeeding peer counselor program, and the Lancaster County Breastfeeding Coalition. She has also presented before Congress to discuss the benefits of securing future grant funding for Nurse-Family Partnership.

“Beth’s passion for her work has made a significant and lasting impact on her clients, colleagues and community,” said Mary Steffy, RN, manager, LG Health Community Health and Wellness. “She epitomizes the core values of LG Health and exemplifies the Penn Medicine Experience Standards in all that she does.”
