The following letter was sent by a patient to UPHS CEO Ralph Muller and has been edited for clarity and length.
Over the past 22 months, I have had a total hip replacement, four spinal surgeries, and most recently, a total knee replacement. Without exception, everyone I have dealt with – from surgeons, to personnel in admissions, nursing, food services, environmental services, and administration – have consistently been outstanding professionals who have fostered a nurturing and healing environment vital to my recovery.
My primary care physician, Dr. Laura Kosseim, has been at the heart of my care throughout this trying period. I cannot say enough about Dr. Kosseim’s dedication and caring nature as she consistently provides superior healthcare services. The amazing Dr. Craig Israelite gave me my new hip and knee, and his tremendous skill and great personality have been sources of comfort and inspiration.
Following my most recent surgeries, I stayed at the Penn Presbyterian Center for Continuing Care for short term rehab. Again, I was amazed by the caring, healing environment created by the staff. I found everyone willing to go the extra mile. Nurse Tay [Tuere Minatee, BSN, RN] provided outstanding services during my four stays. I was also fortunate to have Zakkiyyah [Abdussamad, RN] caring for me during my most recent stay, and Tamica [Brown] is amazing. While at PPCCC, I was also visited twice by Eileen Stewart, the Patient and Guest Relations Coordinator; a nicer and more caring individual would be hard to find.
Each and every Penn professional that I have encountered has made a very great, positive difference in my life. I will be forever grateful for the outstanding care provided through the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
