The FBI estimates that 1 in every 3 women in the United States will be assaulted in their lifetime, but thankfully there are techniques women can learn to better protect themselves.
Princeton Health’s Community Wellness Department recently offered female employees a free introduction to those techniques in a series of classes at Princeton Medical Center.
Self-defense classes for male employees are planned for the spring, said Deborah Millar, director, Community Wellness.
The women’s classes—three sessions serving dozens of employees in late November—provided an introduction to RAD Women®, a self-defense course that teaches women how to be more aware of potential danger and protect themselves from it.
“The techniques are simple, practical and effective and designed for every woman regardless of physical fitness.” Millar said. “We have provided this training to thousands of community members in recent years, and we were excited to offer it to our employees free of charge.”
