For parents-to-be Eri and Yuki Shindo, attending Princeton Health’s Baby Fair in October was all about the free car-seat safety check. Kelly Panariello of Robbinsville, N.J., was there to learn about family education classes and have a fun outing with her 6-month-old son Ryan. That describes the Baby Fair in a nutshell: Emphasis on education, yet with plenty of treats and kid-friendly activities to keep families engaged.
Attendees gained valuable advice from obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and nurses on topics such as safe sleep for babies and self-care for new moms. The event also featured sessions with a social worker and a neonatologist, maternity tours, and overviews of childbirth and family education programs provided by Princeton Health Community Wellness.
Kristy Champignon of East Brunswick, N.J., who attended with her 1-month-old son Kevin, said she took a maternity tour and classes during her pregnancy, and the experience helped her progress into a confident, informed parent.
