Kenneth Burkert

Kenneth Burkert, senior outreach coordinator and peer support specialist for First Responder Treatment Services at Princeton House Behavioral Health, was recognized at the Union County Conference of the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association (PBA) on April 20 in appreciation of his years of service to the PBA and law enforcement officers. First Responder Treatment Services at Princeton House provides enhanced, customized care for law enforcement officers, firefighters, military personnel, EMTs, and other first responders. The program has treated more than 900 individuals since it was initiated in 2013. In addition to working with patients in the program, Burkert and Michael Bizzarro, PhD, clinical director of First Responder Treatment Services, provide training on traumatic events in the workplace, peer-to-peer counseling and mental health well-being. Burkert also provides peer support to first responders who reach out to him seeking information about behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.
