Appreciate the importance of giving each and every year by becoming a member of our most loyal donor society.

John Morgan Giving Society

The John Morgan Giving Society was established to thank and honor donors to Penn Medicine who, for three or more consecutive years, have responded to our requests for unrestricted support and believe in the importance of giving each and every year. Their unfailing loyalty enables Penn Medicine to remain at the forefront of medical research, medical education and the compassionate care of patients.

Dr. John Morgan (1735-1789) was a member of the first graduating class of the College of Philadelphia (now the University of Pennsylvania). Upon completing his medical training in Europe, he appealed to the trustees of the college to establish our nation's first medical school, whose mission was to improve the standards of medical training in America. His petition was successful, and the school of medicine was established in 1765 with Dr. Morgan as Chair of Theory and Practice of Physic, the first medical professorship in the country.

The legacy of our medical school's founder guides us in our pursuit of advanced patient care, in our investment in research and in the training of tomorrow's medical professionals.
