A variety of supportive care options are available to patients facing serious illnesses and conditions. These multidisciplinary programs complement traditional treatments and are available to patients regardless of prognosis and in conjunction with curative therapies.
For all patients: The Pain Management Clinicis led by the Anesthesiology Department and provides expert pain management with consideration of local procedures to alleviate pain when appropriate. The Penn Pain Medicine Center is a dedicated pain management clinic that is located at Penn Medicine Rittenhouse.
For oncology patients: The Palliative and Supportive Oncology Clinic provides symptom management and support for patients needing assistance with pain and other symptoms or distress. This clinic has locations at the Abramson Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital as well as at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. For non-oncology patients seeing a Penn Medicine lung, renal (kidney), or heart and vascular specialist: Providers at the Non-Oncology Palliative Care Clinic work in conjunction with a patient’s existing specialist to improve quality of life for patients with serious conditions. Patients are seen in their regular clinic for either a single visit or ongoing care.
