Our team is proud to lead the way in research and development of devices to help treat heart valve disease. In fact, Penn doctors have been responsible for some of the most exciting and innovative new techniques for heart valve repair and replacement.

W. Clark Hargrove, III, MD, is a national leader in minimally invasive port access mitral valve repair. Since 1998, he has performed more than 1,000 mitral valve operations at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center using the port access approach.

Pavan Atluri, MD, has a clinical focus on minimally invasive techniques for mitral valve repair, and he has published extensively on the topic. He routinely performs minimally invasive mitral valve repairs with port access and robotic approaches at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
