Department of Neurology Melissa and Paul Anderson President's Distinguished Professor Amit Bar-Or, MD, FRCPC, is now Director for the Center for Neuroinflammation and Neurotherapeutics and Chief of the Multiple Sclerosis Center at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
A graduate of McGill Medical School in Montreal, Dr. Bar-Or completed a neurology residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, followed by a neuroimmunology fellowship at Harvard’s Center for Neurological Disease.
Dr. Bar-Or’s research interests include the role of functionally distinct immune cell subsets in autoimmune disease, and the contribution of immune-glial and immune-neural interactions to injury and repair in the central nervous system. Dr. Bar-Or’s clinical focus is multiple sclerosis and related conditions, in both children and adults.
Board certified in neurology, Dr. Bar-Or sees patients at the Penn Neuroscience Center of the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
