Our residency and fellowship programs have an extensive history of academic and clinical excellence, and a global alumni network. With historical beginnings under the leadership of Robert Dripps, the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care has a long record of both clinical and academic excellence.
The opportunity to train with world renowned faculty, in addition to caring for a host of patients with various surgical pathologies, provides residents and fellows a training experience unlike any other in the region. The department prides itself on training the future leaders in the field of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. By providing excellent clinical training and mentorship, our goal is to produce leaders in all realms of anesthesiology, including the operating room, intensive care unit, labor and delivery floor, and pain clinic.
In addition to an excellent training experience, the city of Philadelphia offers plenty of cultural and outdoor activities that many residents take advantage of as they train here at Penn.
