What is Thyroid Cancer?

Thyroid cancer is cancer of the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped organ at the base of the throat that makes hormones that help control heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and weight. Thyroid cancer is the fastest increasing cancer in both men and women, outpacing all other malignancies. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be more than 60,000 new cases of thyroid cancer in the United States this year alone.
