Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms and Diagnosis

Doctors reviewing CT scan

An accurate pancreatic cancer diagnosis from trusted cancer specialists is the first step in getting personalized treatment options to treat your cancer. Our pancreatic cancer experts have vast experience diagnosing cancer and are actively researching better ways to detect pancreatic cancer in its earlier stages.

Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms

There are no symptoms associated with the early stages of pancreatic cancer. Often, symptoms don’t occur until pancreatic cancer has advanced or spread.

Pancreatic cancer symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Jaundice, the yellowing of your skin or eyes
  • Lack of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Pain in your upper abdomen and mid-back
  • Unintentional weight loss

However, none of these symptoms are specific only to pancreatic cancer. Many conditions can cause these symptoms. We may check for other conditions, as well as for pancreatic cancer, if you’re experiencing the signs and symptoms above.

Diagnosing Pancreatic Cancer

If we suspect you may have pancreatic cancer, you’ll undergo imaging tests, such as a CT scan or MRI, to detect a mass or abnormality in your pancreas.

If a mass is seen, we will perform a biopsy to confirm a cancer diagnosis and stage the disease. Once pancreatic cancer is diagnosed and staged, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that’s specific to you.
