We support these initiatives by:

As the Director of Public Affairs for Penn Medicine, Chris oversees the Office of Government and Community Relations for the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Perelman School of Medicine. He is also directly responsible for Penn Medicine's federal government affairs portfolio. Chris develops and executes Penn Medicine's annual public policy agenda in Washington, DC. In addition, he serves as a liaison to elected and appointed federal government officials on both public policy and constituent matters.

Prior to joining Penn Medicine, Chris worked for Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as the Associate Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy. In that role, Chris was responsible for state government affairs in the Northeastern United States. He also previously served as the Manager of Government Affairs, Community Relations & Advocacy for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He began his career in government as an aide to United States Senator Arlen Specter.

Chris holds a B.S. in history and political science from Drexel University.

Steve, as the Associate Director of Government Relations, directly oversees Penn Medicine's state and local government affairs portfolio in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He develops and executes Penn Medicine's annual public policy agenda in Harrisburg, Trenton and Philadelphia and ensures alignment with Penn Medicine's mission to improve the health and well-being of people through research, education, clinical care and community Service. In addition, he actively monitors legislative, regulatory and budgetary developments and serves as Penn Medicine's liaison with elected and appointed state and local government officials.

Before joining Penn Medicine, Steve served as a Legislative Director in Philadelphia City Council. In that role, he was responsible for drafting legislation and managing the legislative agenda for a Philadelphia City Council Member.

Steve received a B.A. in Political Science and J.D. from Temple University.

As the Community Relations Manager, Laura serves as Penn Medicine's liaison with community organizations, local non-profits and area residents. She maintains Penn Medicine's Community Events Calendar and manages the CAREs Grant Program, both of which are designed to increase employee and medical student volunteerism and community engagement. She also works to align Penn Medicine's community engagement activities with identified community health needs. In addition, Laura oversees the day-to-day operation of the Office of Government and Community Relations, including the annual budget process.

Prior to coming to Penn, Laura worked in the Philadelphia Criminal Court as an assistant to the Director of Active Criminal Records. During her tenure at Penn, Laura received her bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's University College of Professional and Liberal Studies, where she served as speaker for her commencement.
