How do I watch Penn Vital Signs online?

If you do not already have it, you will need to download the FREE RealPlayer application. Once this is installed on your computer, the video will automatically begin to play when you visit the "Watch Penn Vitals Signs Online" webpages. See below for instructions on downloading the free application.

Which versions of RealPlayer will allow me to watch Penn Vital Signs online?

You can view our shows using RealPlayer 8 or higher. Earlier versions will probably prompt you to upgrade to the newest Real Player.

How do I download or upgrade to the FREE Real Player?

Visit the Real website. Look for the "Free Real Player" link (not the 14-day free trial), then the link which says "Download the Free Real Player".

My Player isn't functioning properly. What can I do?

Option 1: What version are you using?

  1. Open RealPlayer.
  2. Click on "Help" in the menu bar.
  3. Click on "About RealPlayer".
  4. Go to http://www.real.com if you need to upgrade (see above instructions).

Option 2: I have the newest RealPlayer, but the video is not working properly.

Please note that if you have a dial-up connection, you can expect the video to be somewhat muddy or blurry, or may buffer often, but it should still be watchable and the audio should be clear. If you have a high-speed connection, the video should be very clear.

Also, RealPlayer requires a minimum of 16-bit color in Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and 2000. If your computer is incapable of displaying at least 16-bit color, you may only get a black square in RealPlayer when you play video content.

To check your connection settings:

  1. Start RealPlayer.
  2. Click the Tools menu and choose Preferences.
  3. Click the Connection option.
  4. In the "Bandwidth" category, and select the appropriate speed for your internet connection for both Normal and Maximum. Select 56K modem or a lower speed if you have a 56K dial-up modem connection. Select 256 kbps DSL/Cable or a higher speed if you have a high-speed connection (DSL, cable modem, T1, etc.).

To check your video resolution settings:

  1. Click the "Start" menu on your desktop.
  2. Click "Settings" and then "Control Panel".
  3. Double click the "Display" icon.
  4. Click the "Settings" tab.
  5. Make sure that "High Color" or "True Color" is selected in the colors list.
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Restart your computer if prompted.
