Venous Disease

Diseases associated with the veins include:

  • Leg swelling - There are many causes associated with leg swelling, therefore, if it occurs, seek medical attention for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Varicose Veins - an enlarged, tortuous vein, artery or lymphatic vessel, which is unnaturally and permanently distended. These veins can be treated with medical stockings or scleral vein stripping.
  • Vasculitis - inflammation of a vessel or angitis, which can be treated with steroids and/or other medications.
  • Deep venous thrombosis - A blood clot that forms in the deep veins of the body, these, as opposed to superficial veins, have the potential to cause pulmonary embolus (blood clot in the lung).

Our Services
Initial evaluation typically includes a non-invasive venous ultrasound study to evaluate whether a blood clot or abnormal vein is present. Treatment includes a variety of medical or interventional therapies to reduce swelling.
