There's a better way to look at how the human body moves. Only Penn is putting it in motion.
Your body is an amazing structure of joints, bones and muscles all working together. Smoothly, efficiently and in total harmony. With the Penn Musculoskeletal Center, we've created a new kind of structure where the pieces and parts work exactly the same way.
The Center occupies two floors of Penn Medicine University City, consisting of 49 exam rooms and supported by experts from multiple medical specialties, including:
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Good Shepherd Penn Partners Therapy
- Pain Medicine
- Family Medicine/Sports Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Musculoskeletal Radiology
Keeping you pain-free.
The demand for musculoskeletal care — disorders, injuries and pain found in joints, muscles or bones — will continue to rise. This trend will increase the need for both more coordinated and highly specialized treatment.
Penn Medicine is uniquely positioned to meet this need, in a way unmatched by any other institute or center in the region, by combining a superior environment for personalized care with the latest diagnostic tools.
The waiting areas have been designed and organized with your needs and conditions in mind — equipped with interactive educational materials to help you better understand your condition and treatment options. We also understand that navigating your care can be a challenge, which is why you will be given a main point of contact, who can help you schedule any appointments, across these multiple specialties.
The Center also houses an advanced radiology center that provides services such as digital x-ray, computed tomography (CT scan), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scan) and ultrasound. Musculoskeletal radiologists are also on-site to make the imaging process easier.
Penn Center for Human Performance
Slated to open in the fall of 2015, the Penn Center for Human Performance will help you achieve peak performance — whether walking pain-free on a beach or setting a new personal best in a run.
Using the most advanced tools and technology, you will be evaluated by a team of specialists to maximize individual treatment plans for bone and joint injury, disorders and disease. This space will allow physicians to provide immediate feedback regarding your disorder and the related medical or surgical treatment plan, including physical goals and performance targets.
The Surgery Center
Finally, outpatient surgery is performed at The Surgery Center, located on the 5th floor of Penn Medicine University City. This facility was designed to maximize surgical efficiency, resulting in less wait time — in a family-friendly environment.
