Michelle: Liver Transplant Recipient
Michelle discusses how the surgeon, nurses and transplant coordinators at the Penn Transplant Institute helped calm her nerves and were with her every step of the way. "From the time I was listed to the time I was transplanted, they treated me like family."
Michelle's cousin donated a portion of her liver to Michelle through Penn's living liver donor program. She says, "I look at my scar every day and think of her."
"Liver transplant is not a death sentence; it's just a second chance at life."
This video was filmed at the annual Dash for Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness, a run/walk Michelle participated in to honor organ and tissue donors, celebrate the lives of organ and tissue recipients and recognize those who continue to wait for a life-saving transplant.
