What is the Lung Nodule Program?
The program,
developed by one of the largest academic thoracic
surgical units in the country together with the
pulmonologists and radiologists at Hospital of
the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), is one
of only a handful in the country and the first
in the Philadelphia region.
The Lung Nodule Program
addresses the growing number of patients being
diagnosed with tiny round- or oval-shaped sore
(called a lesion or nodule), on or in their lungs.
The goal of the Lung Nodule Program is twofold:
to save patients from unnecessary surgery, and
to catch possible lung cancers early when they
are most treatable.
