Are You a Candidate for the Lung Nodule Program?
You
may be a candidate for the Lung Nodule Program
if you have been diagnosed with a small, incidental
lung nodule as a result of a chest X-ray or full-body
CT scan.
Patients are evaluated at the Lung Nodule Program
within a week of referral. The appointment
includes:
- A baseline CT scan;
- Expert interpretation by the chest radiologists
of the Division of Thoracic Imaging at HUP;
and
- An examination by a Penn thoracic surgeon.
A surgeon and an advanced practice nurse will develop an individualized care plan for you and schedule follow-up scans at regular intervals over two years. Patients are sent an appointment reminder card for subsequent multi-detector CT exams at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. These serial CT scan studies provide our team with precise indications of changes in the nodule.
