Surgical Oncology & Cancer
Chemotherapy
Surgical oncology is the removal of cancerous
tissue through the use of standard surgical
techniques, laser surgery and chemotherapy.
When low-dose chemotherapy is administered to
outpatients, a registered nurse monitors and
observes these patients in a separate unit reserved
for their use.
Some Pennsylvania Hospital patients
may take advantage of experimental drugs,
which are made available to appropriate patients
through the hospital's participation in national
programs of cancer research.
