Living with Sjögren's Syndrome

Patients living with Sjögren's can find comfort in knowing there are others with the disease. Many patients feel they learn the most from one another in support groups. The Philadelphia-area support group is based at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Living with Sjögren's symptoms such as dry eyes and dry mouth can be difficult, but these symptoms are manageable with the use of over-the counter products such as preservative-free artificial tears, artificial saliva, unscented skin lotions and saline nasal sprays. (Patients should always consult with their doctor when using these products.) In addition, recipes that promote saliva flow can help in the treatment of dry mouth.
