Unusual Presentations of Sjogren’s Syndrome

Sometimes, Sjogren's may present with symptoms other than dry eyes and dry mouth, and in some cases, the symptoms of dry eyes and dry mouth may be completely absent. Some unusual presentations of Sjogren's include:

  • Seropositive polyarthritis
  • Polymyalgia rheumatica
  • Leukocytoclastic vasculitis
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Isolated central nervous system disease
  • Inflammatory myositis
  • Parotid or submandibular gland swelling
  • Accelerated caries
  • Renal tubular acidosis
  • Fever of unknown origin
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate
  • Positive antinuclear antibodies or rheumatoid factor
  • Corneal melt or perforation
