Bloodless Robotic Surgery for Gynecologic Cancers
Surgeons with the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Penn Medicine are combining robotic technology with a series of preoperative and intraoperative blood-sparing strategies to minimize blood loss during gynecologic surgery.

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network & Penn Medicine: Partners in Post-Acute Care
To better meet the needs of a growing population of patients in long-term care, PennMedicine entered into a partnership with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network in July 2008. The resulting alliance, Good Shepherd Penn Partners (GSPP), is now the most comprehensive continuum of post-acute care in eastern Pennsylvania.

Importance of Evaluation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Obese Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
Specialists at the Penn Sleep Centers are encouraging physicians treating obese patients with diabetes, particularly those with higher waist circumferences (truncal obesity), to be evaluated for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Data from epidemiologic and clinical studies now suggests that OSA places patients at increased risk for the development of altered glucose metabolism, and could thus be a contributing cause of type 2 diabetes.
