LEED Certification
The Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green
Building Rating System™ promotes
green building practices and LEED certification
provides independent, third-party confirmation
that a building project meets nationally
recognized green building standards.
The Perelman
Center provides the best possible working and
healing environment for staff and patients. It
benefits the community by conserving resources,
reducing carbon dioxide emissions and encouraging
environmental stewardship.
From its initial construction phase, the Perelman
Center has been environmentally friendly. During
demolition of the previous site, more than 90
percent of the debris—over 20,000 tons—was
recycled. Other important features include the
use of recycled materials and locally manufactured
materials in order to preserve natural resources,
support of the local economy and reduce fuel
use and pollution from transportation.
