The University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine requires medical students to gain classroom, clinical and direct educational experience related to palliative medicine and hospice care. Coursework and lectures cover topics such as caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses and the role of the interdisciplinary team. Medical students have the opportunity to participate in hospital rotations or other clinical or home care visits.
Resident Electives are available to all graduate medical education programs affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. Electives are crafted to meet the individual needs of each learner and cover a wide variety of palliative care educational opportunities available at the University of Pennsylvania.
