Palliative Care

Nursing Education

The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing offers advanced studies in palliative care. Nurses in the graduate program have the opportunity to elect palliative care as a minor and gain advanced coursework, training and clinical experience related to palliative medicine and hospice care.

Penn Nursing is one of only 20 schools in the country to offer opportunities for specialization in palliative care. The required curriculum is based on core competencies defined by the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, emphasizing theory, concepts and evidence-based symptom management.
