Adult Volunteer Program

By becoming an adult volunteer at Pennsylvania Hospital, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and learn things, all while helping others and having fun.

You will enjoy complimentary meals in the hospital cafeteria, use of our medical library and receive a discount or free parking dependent upon the number of hours served. Hours are flexible and are dependent upon the area of your assignment.

Requirements are:

  • Completed application
  • Health screen, which includes two PPD tests for tuberculosis and immunization records or blood work for immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Chickenpox. Either the hospital or your own personal physician can run the testing.
  • Interview with the Director of Volunteer Services
  • Criminal background check
  • Child abuse check for selected areas
  • Completed compliance paperwork
  • Commitment of 50 hours and at least four months of service
  • Specific hospital and departmental training
  • Uniform and dress standards

After you submit your application, you will be contacted for an interview with the Director of Volunteer Services. During the interview, available opportunities and placement in an area of interest to you will be discussed.
