Surviving and Thriving in the Face of Cancer
Lynne Goldstein Artwork
A five time cancer survivor (not including a bout with a pituitary tumor that was benign yet somehow inconvenient), Lynne captures in photographs just how it feels for her to hear ‘it’s cancer again.’ And again, and again…
The first series of photos below show that emotion vividly, but as you’ll see as you screen through the rest, her photographs record not only her changing visual passion but her steady emotional progress as well.
Lynne has won photography awards, been selected for numerous juried shows, has shown in a variety of galleries. But she is very proud of the permanent photo installations now hanging at the departments of Oncology and Radiation Oncology at Pennsylvania Hospital, and throughout the Joan Karnell Cancer Center.
JKCC is where she has found wonderful friendships and continued support from Mary Pat Lynch and Marylou Osterman. It is where she has received special medical and therapeutic attention and care from Dr. Arthur Staddon and Dr. Mark Moore.
Over time, Lynne has overheard patients remark that her photos make them feel serene, strong, happy, different. No matter their history or their battle, they view the photos as a captured moment of mindfulness and, perhaps, hope, as they pass for others to share.
