About Gynecologic Cancer

Gynecologic oncology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses only on cancers of the female reproductive system, notably ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, vaginal cancer and vulvar cancer. As specialists, they are generally the most appropriate type of physician to treat these kinds of cancers.

Gynecologic cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer in women, afflicting approximately 1 in 20 women. In fact, 82,000 women are diagnosed with gynecologic cancer annually in the United States.
