About Gynecologic Cancer
Gynecologic
oncology is a specialized
field of medicine that focuses only on cancers
of the female reproductive system, notably ovarian
cancer, cervical
cancer, endometrial
cancer, vaginal
cancer and vulvar
cancer. As specialists, they are generally
the most appropriate type of physician to treat
these kinds of cancers.
Gynecologic cancer is the fourth most common
type of cancer in women, afflicting approximately
1 in 20 women. In fact, 82,000 women are diagnosed
with gynecologic cancer annually in the United
States.
