Honors, Awards and Publications

The Joan Karnell Cancer Center is the proud recipient of a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation, titled Breaking Barriers to Breast Cancer Care.

This one year grant for $40,000 was awarded in April 2007 to provide services for women with breast cancer at the Joan Karnell Cancer Center, including supportive care grants, lymphedema supplies, Healthy Balance Program for survivors, outreach, community and patient education.


Clara Granda-Cameron, MSN, CRNP, presented two posters on behalf of the Pain and Supportive Care Program at the Center to Advance Palliative Care Seminar in Orlando, FL in June:

“Bringing an Inpatient Palliative Care Program to a Teaching Hospital: Making a Case” by Clara Granda-Cameron, MSN, CRNP, Paul Kinniry, MD, Mary Pat Lynch, MSN, CRNP, David Mintzer, MD, Helen Grosky, MSS, Carol Miller, BSW, Dorothy Counts, RN, MA, Margaret Crowley, RN, MSEd, and Shailesh Pinto, MD.

“Implementing a Bereavement Program at a Cancer Center” by Clara Granda-Cameron, MSN, CRNP, Tracey Lichner, PhD, Mary Pat Lynch, MSN, CRNP, Theresa Alcorn, BA, and Edna Foa, PhD.
