Celebration of JKCC Expansion
The Joan Karnell Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital celebrated its expansion with an open house for friends and staff on June 13, 2004.
During the day, the Pennsylvania Hospital community was invited to tour the new space located on the first floor of the Farm Journal Building.Housed in this new location is administration, social work, nutrition, psychology, music therapy and shiatsu massage.
The Cancer Risk Evaluation Program, Palliative Care Program, the patient education center, a meeting room for support groups and classes are located here as well as a demonstration kitchen for the Cancer Center's popular cooking classes. In addition to refreshments and tours, visitors enjoyed a complimentary shiatsu massage!
An evening reception featured a presentation by Arthur Staddon, MD, Cancer Center medical director and Mary Pat Lynch, Cancer Center administrator, highlighting the Center's accomplishments as well as future events and activities. Guests also had an opportunity to view the plans of the art project selected for the Farm Journal Building lobby. The artist, Vinson Houston, a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts,was on hand to share his winning design.
