L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS: It's not a vocation. Being a physician is a lifestyle. My major area of interest is what we call extremity salvage and reconstruction, which includes patients that have upper extremity disorders such as mutilating hand injuries, patients that require salvage of their lower extremities from trauma, infection, or tumor. Collaboration of all the team members on this big team we call Penn Medicine is a tremendous advantage that allows us to deliver the best musculoskeletal care and the best orthopaedic care in the world. The department of orthopaedic surgery at the university of pennsylvania is the oldest orthopaedic program in the country. Yet it remains cutting-edge and out in front. In the future, we'll be able to do things like hand transplantation. Penn Orthopaedics, Penn Medicine is a beacon for excellence. This is what attracted me to Penn and I'm very proud to say my dream of leading such a group has been realized thus far in my tenure.
On behalf of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Penn Medicine, welcome to the Penn Orthopaedics website.
Whether you are a patient, referring physician, or student, Penn Orthopaedics is here to serve you.
As the country's first department of orthopaedic surgery and a national leader in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, we offer advanced, personally-tailored care and the latest treatment options for a variety of injuries and disorders within ten orthopaedic subspecialties.
For added convenience, we offer services at seven sites throughout the Philadelphia region.
We hope you will browse the website and learn more about the services we offer. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us at 215-662-3340.
