Refractive Surgery Staff
Why Choose Scheie Eye Institute?
The Scheie Eye Institute is the Department of Ophthalmology for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. As part of an academic institution with an emphasis on excellence in patient care, education and research, Scheie's ophthalmologists provide the most current procedures while using the latest technology and equipment. Our refractive surgeons are board-certified ophthalmologists who specialize in the cornea, and who have performed laser treatment since the mid-1990s. As corneal specialists, the doctors also have the specialized knowledge and experience to take care of any problems that may arise.
The Scheie Eye Institute offers all of the services needed for refractive surgery. No “co-management” relationships are made with other doctors concerning your care. The doctors who actually perform the procedure are involved with the patient from the first consultation exam through to the final post-operative visit, thereby allowing the patient to grow comfortable with the doctor prior to undergoing the refractive surgery treatment. The Scheie doctors have no financial interest in the laser technology or any of the other instruments used.
The primary goal of our doctors is to do what is in the best interest of the patient. Therefore, the doctors at Scheie will provide every patient with honest advice on whether a candidate is eligible for laser vision correction, and will ensure that all relevant risks are minimized before the decision to proceed with the treatment.
Our Staff
As leading corneal and refractive surgeons in the tri state area, our physicians perform procedures that are safe and effective, and in the patient's best interest. They present all the options, both surgical and non-surgical, for any prospective refractive surgery patient.
