Research
At Scheie’s F.M.
Kirby Center for Molecular Ophthalmology, scientists investigate
the causes of important eye conditions that may
be treatable with molecular therapies, including:
- macular degeneration
- diabetic retinopathy
- hereditary retinal degenerations
- cataract
- severe myopia
The Scheie Eye Institute is a world leader in research and is currently ranked #1 in funding from the National Eye Institute. Our department receives more research funding from the National Eye Institute than any other department of ophthalmology or eye institute in the country.
