Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment
When a mother is expecting a baby with a known
birth defect, the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and
Surgery can provide therapy for the child before
or after birth. The Center provides specialized
care, including surgery if necessary, for mothers
carrying a fetus with a known birth defect. The
multidisciplinary staff, including experts from
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, offers
comprehensive services, ranging from prenatal
evaluation and diagnosis to treatment, including
newly developed techniques for fetal surgery.
The Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment consider
a mother and the fetus as separate patients. Our
high-risk specialists work closely with the Center
and our collaboration with the Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia enables us to provide technologically
advanced, high quality care to treat mother and
child, together at one center. Emotional counseling
services are also available.

surgery site of the Children's Hospital
