A Father’s Journey

Father cycled from White Plains, NY to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Honor of Daughters Who Were Born Prematurely

Mark Mills and his wife, Raj, organized a fundraising bike tour to benefit the March of Dimes, an organization with a mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

The two-day ride began at the March of Dimes headquarters in White Plains, NY on Friday, June 15th and ended at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 16th, at 5 pm. To date, the C.C. Riders have raised over $11,000 for the March of Dimes. Upon arrival at the hospital, the C.C. Riders (and support crew) delivered gifts and cards to the staff in HUP’s Level III intensive care nursery.

The team name, C.C. Riders, is in honor of the Mills’ twin daughters, Chessa and Chloe, who were delivered prematurely at HUP. Chessa did not survive the pregnancy, while her twin sister Chloe was born 10 weeks premature weighing just two lbs., seven oz. Chloe spent seven weeks in the intensive care nursery. Today, Chloe is an energetic and adorable one-year-old.
