According to the Centers for Disease Control, the infant mortality is down to 7.2 deaths per 1,000 live births in 1997 (from 9.2 deaths per 1,000 births in 1990). Because of technology with modern medicine, the number of infants born with birth defects is also going down. Every mother-to-be worries to a certain extent. But if you're so worried that it interferes with work, sleeping, or eating, you should take action. Try talking with your spouse, confiding in friends, consulting your doctor, or reading up on pregnancy and parenting.
