Conditions Treated
The Penn NeuroIntensive Care Unit treats all neurologic diseases, including:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
- Aneurysm, subarachnoid hemorrhage and other neurovascular diseases
- Spinal cord injury
- Brain tumor
- Brain infections, such as meningitis and encephalitis
- Epilepsy and status epilepticus
- Neuromuscular emergencies
In addition, after intraoperative management by the neuroanesthesia team, neurosurgery patients receive specialized post-operative and post-interventional radiology care in the Neuro ICU.
