The Neuro-ophthalmology Service
The Neuro-ophthalmology Service provides care
to patients with optic nerve problems, visual
field defects, extraocular motility dysfunction
and orbital disorders. Our services include the
resources of Penn's Scheie Eye
Institute, world renowned for its discoveries
in vision care and eye surgery.
The program bridges the fields of ophthalmology
and neurology to provide diagnosis and treatment
for patients with neurologic and systemic illnesses
that affect vision and eye movement. The team
caring for you will also include specialists from
neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology and neuroradiology.
Disorders treated include:
- Double vision
- Optic neuritis
- Pseudotumor cerebri
- Chiasmal tumors
- Visual hallucinations
- Ischemic optic neuropathy
- Giant cell arteritis
- Visual field defects
- Pupillary abnormalities
- Thyroid eye disease
- Ocular myasthenia
